The Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Haruna Tsokwa, yesterday escaped being killed by unknown gunmen.
According to Sahara Reporters, the incident occurred in a border town called Bade, which is located between Kaduna and Nasarawa States. The gunmen arriving in a commando style, according to a source, fired several shots at the convoy but were unsuccessful.
One of his Speaker Tsokwaa’s guards, a police officer, was however shot. He was rushed to the hospital after the attackers were overpowered. They subsequently escaped.
Tsokwa has been in the middle of the political controversy, concerning the return to Taraba of ailing Governor Danbaba Danfulani Suntai. He led the resistance against the efforts of the governor, who has brain injuries, to resume his office in his condition.
